Jharkhand Philosophical Forum (JPF) is organizing a National-Level Academic Seminar aimed at promoting interdisciplinary dialogue among philosophers, scholars, counsellors, film thinkers, and students.

The seminar reflects JPF’s vision of Public Philosophy, Applied Ethics, and the integration of philosophical thinking with real-life experiences and cultural expressions such as cinema.

Philosophical Counselling via Socio-Philosophical Perspective in Classical Films Down the Ages

In today’s rapidly changing world, individuals face growing ethical dilemmas, psychological stress, and social complexities that cannot always be addressed through clinical or technical solutions alone.

Philosophical counselling, rooted in critical reasoning and ethical reflection, provides a meaningful framework to explore questions of life, values, purpose, and meaning.

Classical films, as enduring cultural texts, vividly portray:

  • Moral conflicts
  • Existential struggles
  • Social inequalities
  • Shifts in human values across history

Through a socio-philosophical perspective, cinema becomes a powerful medium to understand how individual experiences are shaped by society, culture, and historical context.

Drawing from both Indian and Western philosophical traditions, the seminar recognizes cinema as a shared space where philosophy, psychology, and society intersect, making philosophical reflection accessible, experiential, and socially relevant.
